BIOGRAPHY

After listening to Alan Boivin’s music, you can hear he’s not merely working in one single genre. He creating his own style while drawing upon blues, country, and rock influences. Even though his voice is distinctively his own, some listeners liken it to it to Bob Segar, Elton John, or Don Henley.

Boivin started playing guitar and piano at age fourteen, inspired by the music of the Beatles and Bob Dylan. He wrote his first song at 18 and continued song writing and recorded through out his demanding and successful architectural career. He started writing more prolifically in the early 90’s. This coincided with a burst of new creative song writers and artists in Nashville at the time. He had some luck with publishers once he started writing in a more country style.

At this time, Billy Block created the ‘Western Beat Showcase’ in L.A. to bring the local community of songwriters together. It gave newcomers a chance to perform, and enabled established writers a place to show off their latest songs. Through ‘Western Beat’ , Alan met producer /guitarist, Ed Tree, and recorded 3 albums of original material. The 1st was ‘Treehouse’ in 1993, followed by ‘A Man Like Me’ in 1996. He and Ed recorded his demo sampler ‘ABCD’ in 2003. He is constantly developing his craft and writing new material. His latest album ‘With the Flow’, released in 2018, presents a whole new vibe. Drummer/guitarist Brad Swansen served as the main producer with Ed Tree and Liam Gerner also producing certain songs. He is looking forward to working with new writers and artists, and of course, reaching a wider audience for his music.
